Product Information

About AOD-9604

AOD-9604 is a synthetic, modified peptide fragment corresponding
to the C-terminal region of human growth hormone (hGH 176–191).
The modification includes a tyrosine residue at the N-terminus.

It was designed to investigate some of growth hormone’s proposed
fat-metabolism effects without activating the growth hormone
receptor. This was a design goal; it does not establish clinical
effects or prove that every formulation avoids those pathways.

Proposed mechanisms—including lipolysis and reduced lipogenesis—
have mainly been explored in preclinical research. Human trials
have not demonstrated meaningful weight-loss efficacy.

Research Areas

What Research Has Examined

Lipolysis and Lipogenesis

Preclinical studies have examined possible effects on fat breakdown
and fat formation, including proposed pathways involving
beta-3 adrenergic signaling and enzymes involved in lipid metabolism.
These mechanisms have not established an effective human treatment.

Animal Research

Some animal studies reported changes in fat mass without corresponding
changes in lean mass or food intake. Animal findings do not establish
the same outcomes in people.

Human Obesity Trials

Clinical studies examined AOD-9604, primarily by oral administration.
A larger Phase 2b obesity trial did not meet its primary weight-loss
endpoint versus placebo, and development as an obesity medicine
was discontinued.

Other Preliminary Research

Early research has also explored cartilage and proteoglycan-related
pathways. These findings are preliminary and do not establish a
joint-health benefit.

Evidence Overview

Human Evidence and Limitations

Human studies reported a generally favorable safety profile in the
trial settings, without significant changes in blood glucose, insulin,
or IGF-1. This does not establish the safety of unapproved injectable
research products.

The larger Phase 2b obesity trial failed to meet its primary
weight-loss endpoint. Overall, the evidence does not support claims
of meaningful fat loss in humans.

Most clinical data used oral formulations. Subcutaneous protocols
are not directly established by those trials, and AOD-9604 is not a
substitute for evidence-based weight-management care.

Safety & Regulatory Status

Important Safety Information

Reported effects include mild injection-site reactions, occasional
headache, or temporary lightheadedness. Clinical-trial findings do not
establish the safety of unapproved research-grade injectable products
or long-term use.

A food-ingredient GRAS claim, where applicable, is not FDA approval as a
weight-loss drug and does not establish the safety of injectable use.
FDA’s Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee reviewed AOD-9604-related
substances for the 503A Bulks List; committee review is not the same as
drug approval.

AOD-9604 is not FDA-approved as a drug for weight loss. It is listed by
WADA as a prohibited growth-hormone fragment; athletes should check the
current prohibited list that applies to their sport.

For laboratory research only. Not intended for human or animal
consumption, self-administration, diagnosis, treatment, cure, mitigation,
or prevention of disease.
